Ramona was born in Mount Vernon, Illinois, on October 11, 1931, to Paul and Stella (Hayes) Jolly. She was the third of four children. As a child, she lived in Illinois and New Mexico. In 1948, while living in Springer, New Mexico, Ramona met and married James Truman King. They were blessed with four children Johnny, Patricia, Jimmy, and Paul. They were married for 67 years at the time of Truman's death in 2016.
They moved from Springer to Grand Junction, Colorado and then to Hatch, New Mexico. Ramona ran a restaurant in Salem, New Mexico for a while. In 1963, they moved to Henderson, Colorado, where Ramona started working at the restaurant in the Woolworth at Northglenn Mall. They relocated to Fort Collins in 1972. Ramona worked at the local Woolworth as a waitress and was the manager of the lunch counter upon her retirement.
Holiday gatherings and Sunday dinners were always special. Ramona was a great cook and there were always lots of homemade cookies and candies at Christmas time. She also loved making quilts and giving them to her family. She was a devout Southern Baptist.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Norman (Veda) Jolly, Addison (Benjy) Jolly, and sister Martha (Andy) Hutchens. She is survived by her children Johnny (Janice) King of Fort Lupton, Patricia (Ron) Schlatter of Loveland, Jimmy (Bonnie) King of Brighton, and Paul (Holly) King of Port Hadlock, Washington. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends attended services at Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S. Hwy. 287, Fort Collins, Colorado, on Friday, August 25th, 2023. A Visitation, Funeral Services and Burial were held, followed by a reception at Golden Corral.
