Raquel was born on August 15, 1949 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Manuel Sosa Sr and Maria Munoz-Sosa. As a young woman, Raquel traveled with her father and her siblings as farm laborers migrating back and forth between Texas, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska and Florida. Raquel permanently made Colorado her home, where she worked for the Weld County School district as a Teacher’s Assistant and she finished her career as a clean room technician at Hewlett-Packard.
Raquel spent her spare time getting lost in a good book, listening to music and loved to dance to cumbias and any type of music that could get her off her feet. What Raquel most loved doing was spending time with her family. She loved to go on shopping and food adventures with her children and baby girls (granddaughters); she always turned a fast trip into a long day of fun. Family was everything to Raquel no matter by blood or adopted. Raquel made every important person in her life a family member. Her family is her legacy.
Her children and grandchildren remember her as a strong, driven, brilliant woman and a patient mother/grandmother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and was always there to support both their failures and successes.
Raquel passed away peacefully after a long battle with Kidney failure and breast cancer.
