Rene was a good brother to many. Always ready for a good time. Ready for work. RIP brother. I will always carry your memory with me.  Ride high my brother.

I have so many memories of my Tio Rene I could not just pick one. I have always been close to my uncles/aunts because I grew up with them more like a little sister. My Tio Rene was always one to push me to get over my fears and to do things, he was the one who taught me how to ride a bike. He put me on his own ten speed bike and showed me how to ride. From teaching me to ride a bike to teaching me how to drive again risking his own precious car and took a risk to take me out. I still can remember being scared to get behind the wheel  but looking over at him in the passenger seat being calm and collected knowing I could do it. 
When I got married I did not have the traditional father to walk me down the aisle instead my Tio Rene and Tio Manuel stepped up and both proudly walked me down the aisle, both my uncles telling me that no matter what they would be there for me and when we got to the end of the aisle my Tio Rene gave my husband the famous Sosa eyebrow raise letting him know that he had my back.
When Tio Rene had his motorcycle accident I did not hesitate to learn how to care for him. I made a promise to my uncle that day that no matter what I would always make sure he was home and well taken care of. For the past 12 years I have spent every day with my Tio not only caring for him as a caregiving but he was my best friend. We argued over what to watch on TV, he was critical of my cooking, when we got him Alexa he would call my daughter to tell her what candies and none healthy things to sneak him. When we got the van we went on adventures to Texas, Las Vegas, South Dakota and endless drives to the mountains. 
I will miss you everyday Tio, most girls aren't as lucky as me to have my uncle be more like my big brother and best friend. I know you are with mom right now giving her rides on your Harley and watching over all of us.  Love you Tio I know you are watching over us all. 

My greatest memory of of my Uncle Rene is when I was 16 I was hanging out at home with my friends, my uncle and dad came home with a flyer. My Uncle handed me the flyer for an arm wrestling competition that was happening later that day and was encouraging me to get in the competition. I told them I would do it and my uncle, who was was always proud to be a Sosa laughed and said dont come back unless you win! My uncle and dad laughed and kept joking with me I needed to win to not shame the Sosa name.  I knew even just competing they would be proud of me because that is the men they are. They always have encouraged me to be my best and lifted me even when I was down. I went with my friends to the competition while my dad and uncle were working on their motorcycles. After the competition was over u rushed home and I walked into the garage holding my first place medal and said "Does this mean I get to come home?" My uncle's face lit up with a smile and he grabbed me by my shoulders and hugged me, he couldn't believe it he kept saying no way that's cool I'm proud of you! My Uncle Rene always made me feel that he was proud to have me carry the Sosa name and to be his nephew. Rest in peace Uncle Rene I love you and will miss you forever 

One fond memory of many that I’ll cherish forever, of my brother Rene was when we were young teenagers growing up and  living in a farm just on the outskirts of a little town named  Shelby, Michigan.                                                                             One Autumn day, I believe it was a Friday, late afternoon .We had just gotten off of work. We were  getting ready to head out  to meet with our friends and hangout like we normally did. We jumped in our 64 Ford Galaxie and away we went, hauling ass. So as we were driving down on the county road we encountered a mama raccoon with a couple of babies crossing the road . We both looked at each other and simultaneously said, are you thinking what I’m thinking. I slammed on the brakes and we both hopped out of the car. The chase was on! We were  running around like a dog chasing a rabbit.  We finally managed to catch one. Rene wrapped em up in his jean jacket and we got back in the car, turned around and back home we headed. We proceeded to take him into the house still wrapped up. As we approached  my oldest sister Florinda asked,  what the hell you guys got in that jacket. ? As Rene went to show her, the baby raccoon jumped out. Then all hell broke loose! Omg, that coon was running,jumping, hissing like the wild animal that he was. All my three sisters were doing the same. Lol they were running and jumping onto every piece of furniture, beds, couch, chair, table they could. Rene and I were just laughing our asses off. It was hilarious watching my sisters yelling n carrying on. I’ll never forget it. Every time we remembered we would bust out laughing. That was the kind of prankster my brother was. Always had a great since of humor. I will always cherish his laughter and smile. I will always miss you my brother, my partner In crime n adventure but mostly my very best friend. Someday I’ll see you again. We’ll ride our Harley’s  and continue our journey together. May you Rest  in Peace. 

To say that my Uncle Rene would give you the shirt off his back is no lie. I remember hanging out at his house during the summer like we typically would just laughing, shooting the s*!#, enjoying family time. It was during the time that Sammy Sosa was getting a lot of news coverage for the baseball record he was/did break along with that other player. Sammy's baseball jerseys were all the rage, especially for my Uncle Rene,  mainly because Sosa was printed on the back of the shirt. My memory is a bit fuzzy as to who or if all of the kids had just received jerseys from my uncle or something like that. Anyhow,  I happened to be there and, of course, I didn't get a jersey. I wasn't expecting to even though I thought that was the coolest thing ever at the time. Before we left his house that night, my Uncle Rene went to his room and came back with the Sammy Sosa Chicago Cubs jersey he had bought for himself and gave it to me. I still have the jersey and every time I see it, I remember this day and my Uncle Rene. Tio, you always made me feel loved. You always knew how to make me smile from ear to ear. Tristan and I were very blessed to have had you in our lives. You will always be my favorite uncle.  We love and miss you and that famous mustache dearly.  💕


Rene I am proud to say was a dear friend to me , he poured the champagne at my wedding  and even traveled to Chattanooga Tn to  our marriage blessing in front of my family .. my deepest sympathy to his amazing big beautiful family . You have all included me in so many happier times  and want you all to know I grieve with you  today  !  I love and pray for the sadness of his death , to subside and for your hearts to remember  so many  comforting memories ..  I know God will bring us all together again to celebrate his life ! God bless you Rene and I know you have peace in Heaven! I also suspect your road your motorcycle thru the gates of Heaven as you did at the corral in Johnstown !:)  you were a feisty man and we all loved you!  Forever In or hearts and memories! One memory about my Uncle Rene that has always stayed with me is when he visited us in Texas when we were teenagers. He was coming down to the Valley to visit  Grandpa Manuel and Tía Florinda and stopped by our house in Mcallen.  I'm not sure if my Dad told him to check on us, or if he did it on his own, but he ended up chatting with my Mom and she mentioned that our car wasn't working at the time. He showed up with tools and fixed our car. It was a simple act, but something that helped us immensely.  It was also just a small glimpse into the kindness he always showed us, his nieces.  We love you Tío, Rest in Peace.
