

Dick was born in Seiling, OK on June 3, 1934 to Ottie and Martha Fuqua. He grew up in a large family with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. The family eventually moved to Fort Collins, CO, were he graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1953. He met his future wife, Pat, at a high school friends birthday party. They fell in love and married on December 24, 1953 in Fort Collins, CO. where they were married for over 50 years.
Dick enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles, boating and waterskiing, building and flying his ultra lite planes. Dick and Pat loved going out dancing with friends and hanging out at their pool with friends and family. They also spent time traveling in Japan and Europe. Later in life his interests included working in his flower garden, walking his doggies, trips to Blackhawk and coffee with the guys.
As a young married man, he developed his skills at a Body Shop repairing vehicles. He then opened his own body shop, Dick's Body Shop, on North College. In the early 1960s he took out a loan for 2 Datsun vehicles and started Dick's Datsun. He grew the business into a thriving auto dealership on South College. When he "retired" he managed a city building for a few years, before he sold it. He also enjoyed dabbling in the stock market.
Dick's wife Patricia Kay, passed away in 2020. He is survived by his two children, Leslie (Reuben) Schmidt and Kevin (Sue Ellen) Fuqua; siblings Marvin (Beverly) Fuqua, Charlene Sackschewsky, Janice (Kenny) Schwindt, Wesley, deceased (Judy) Fuqua, Sandra (Art, deceased) Gies; grandchildren Karla Myers, Maggie (Josh) Hudson and Bob Adams; Great grandchildren Kourtney, Dani and Ellie Myers, Caleb and Emma Hudson.
He was a devoted and loving husband, married for over 50 years and took care of Pat until the end.
He was a wonderful father; Kevin and Leslie were lucky to have him as Dad.
He was a second father to Reuben and Sue Ellen.
He was a caring grandfather to Karla, Maggie, Josh, and Bob.
He was a kind great grandfather to Kourtney, Danielle, Ellie, Caleb and Emma.
He was dedicated brother to Marvin, Charlene, Janice, Wesley, and Sandy.
He was a wonderful listener to his friends and family.
Always loved, forever missed, never forgotten.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Allnutt Funeral Service – Drake Road Chapel, 650 W. Drake Rd., Ft. Collins, Colorado 80526. An interment will occur Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 8426 S. Hwy 287, Ft. Collins, Colorado 80525.
