

Robert (Bob) W. Shields, 90, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Bob was born the son of Willie (Bill) J. and Elta Jones Shields on July 14, 1921 in North Platte, Nebraska.
Bob was raised with 3 siblings in Murray, Iowa and Unionville, Missouri. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Pacific theater. Bob was married to Ilene Street from 1946 to 1983. They raised 3 daughters. During this time Bob was a car and truck salesman, real estate broker, farmer, Angus breeder and active member of First Christian Church.
Bob married Wendy Alford in 1991. They were devoted to each other up to his death. During this season of Bob’s life he raised quarter horses and was a strong supporter of the Republican Party.
Bob cherished time with his family, friends and neighbors. He especially loved telling them his stories, but his favorite time was at home with Wendy.
Bob was quite a character. Fun, strong-willed, feisty and loving all combined. He was a fighter who loved life until the end.
Bob is survived by his wife, Wendy; his three daughters: Karen Blanco (Sam) of Fort Collins, Donna Davis of Fort Collins, Robbin Wangaard (David) of Shelton, CT; five step children, Debbie Pantelich (John) of Limerick, PA, Douglas Alford (Jeffy) of Lakewood, CO, Michael Alford (Jacquie) of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert Alford (Kyle) of Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa Tryon (John) of Loveland, CO; brothers: Pat Shields (Mildred) of Richmond, TX, Michael Shields (Debra) of Boerne, TX; step siblings, 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Shields, Rosalee Bain, Roland Shields, Roberta Akers and son-in-law Pastor Ed Davis.
A funeral service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM. A military burial and reception will immediately follow.
