Robert “Bob” H. Burch, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2022 at the age of 92. Although his death was unexpected to those who loved him, we find comfort in knowing Bob is in the arms of his heavenly father.
Robert lived a full long life. He was a gift and a blessing to his wife, Dorothy Bernadine Burch, his children, Robert H. Burch, Jr. and his wife Magda-Lena, Mathew Steven Burch and his longtime partner Tracey, Mary Elizabeth Burch, and Thomas E. Burch and his wife San. He loved spending time and visiting with his grandchildren, Federico Burch and his partner Karla, Rebecca Burch and Luke Burch.
He was born in Flippen, Georgia and traveled the world with his family while serving twenty-eight years in the United States Air Force. He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals and multiple meritorious service awards during his time served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars.
Robert and his beautiful wife Dorothy Bernadine Burch have been married for sixty-eight years. In 2015 Dorothy’s health took a drastic turn. Robert was always by Dorothy’s side. He cared for her, loved her, and lived out their vow “to honor in sickness and in health until death parted”.
In 2013, Bob and Dorothy decided to sell their home in San Antonio, Texas and follow their son Thomas’ family, San, Luke, and Scooby Doo Burch to Fort Collins, Colorado. He spent nine years actively attending church, seeing his grandson Luke grow up, and caring for the love of his life.
Robert had many names he went by throughout his life. He was called son, brother, husband, service member, father, grandfather, faithful friend, and Papa. Papa set a plan, a wish, a desire, that he when it was his time to pass away, he wanted to be at home with his beautiful wife Dorothy and his family. His wish came true.
Our hearts are broken that he is no longer physically here with us yet we know that he will forever live on in our spirits, in our souls, and in our hearts.
