

A resident of the Fort Collins area since 1974, he was born on February 21st, 1945 to Bert and Evelyn Frikken of Wichita, Kansas. He grew up with one loving brother, Don. Robert was a much-adored husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Robert married his beloved wife Barbara Anne on June 30th, 1968, in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Robert graduated from Mulvane High School in 1963. Before graduating from Pittsburg State University, he earned a master’s degree in math. Robert then earned a master’s degree in computer science at Colorado State University. He taught at the community college in Lamar Colorado from 1970 to 1974. After they moved to Fort Collins, Robert occasionally taught Math at Front Range Community College in the evening. His primary occupation was a Computer Programmer at Colorado State University from 1974 to 2001.
Robert prided himself as a family man. He enjoyed camping and hiking, exploring and photographing the outdoors with his family. He loved the Mountains of Colorado. He will be dearly missed.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Frikken. Survivors include his children: Becky, Jenny, Kelly, Angie, Diana, Chris, Tommy, Anastasia, and Riley; his twenty grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held for Robert at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado. A Visitation will be held Monday, September 7, 2026 from 5pm-8pm. His Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 1pm, after which he will be laid to rest with his late wife, Barbara Anne.
