Robert Cleatus Gideon, 86, of Loveland passed away on September 20, 2008. Robert was born in Rocky Ford, CO on October 25, 1921 to Robert Henry and Margaret Ellen (Dillard) Gideon. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.Robert married Beverly J. Betts in 1942 in Denver, Co. They were residents of Fort Collins. Robert moved to Loveland in 2000 after the death of his wife. He worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife for 21 years. Robert was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows.Robert was an avid camper, fisherman, hunter and enjoyed hiking. He also loved music and spending time with his family.Robert is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; sisters Eula Hignight and Edith Trane and son-in-law Donald Thurman.He is survived by his daughter Dorothy Thurman of Loveland; grandchildren Tammra McCloskey of Lakewood, Shannon Thurman of Loveland; Kerri Dake of LaPorte; Darrell Thurman of Wheatridge, and Melissa Hernandez of Tomball, TX; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 1:00pm at Southside Baptist Church.
