Rodney was born December 14, 1966 to Daniel R. Oldfield and Patricia (Fortier) Oldfield in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Growing up, he was involved in 4-H, showing livestock, and the Little Britches Rodeo. He was a happy kid and enjoyed riding dirt bikes. He graduated from Berthoud High School in 1985, and then joined the military. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Throughout the years, Rod was an over-the-road truck driver. Being on the road allowed him to see many interesting places and meet countless people. He made many lifelong friends on the road. More recently, he was working closer to home for the Larimer County Road & Bridge department.
Rod was an outdoorsman. He loved camping, hunting, and his sled dogs. He rode his motorcycle every chance he got and was Road Captain for the American Legion Riders. He was a man of deep faith and a longtime member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland. He was kind, thoughtful, and hardworking. He was a loving son, devoted husband, and caring father. He will be dearly missed.
Rodney leaves behind a legacy of family and faith and is survived by his beloved wife Joan Oldfield, his faithful companion Yukon, sons Barney Oldfield (Sam), and Daniel Halbert (Megan), and grandchildren Sarah and Charlie. He is also survived by his mother Patricia Giberson, and his brothers Ronald Oldfield, and Kolby Giberson (Alicia), as wells as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his stepfather Warren Giberson, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
