Born May 8, 1962, in Fort Collins, Colorado, Scott was the son of Dick and Marilyn Hadlock and grew up as an only child. He graduated from Fort Collins High School, Class of 1980,before eventually making his home in Ault.
Throughout his life, Scott was known as a steady, hard-working presence—someone who showed his devotion not through grand speeches, but through consistency, responsibility, and the quiet ways he looked after the people he loved. Growing up, he was fun-loving and industrious, with a mischievous streak that those close to him remembered with affection.
Scott spent most of his working life with Safeway, serving in many roles over the years. His family fondly referred to him as the “grocery connoisseur,” a title that reflected both his deep familiarity with his work and the loyalty he brought to it day after day.
Above all, Scott was a devoted father who cared deeply about his children. He is survived by his son, Damon Hadlock, and Damon’s wife, Samantha; and his daughter, Jena Welch, and her husband, Brendan. He was a proud grandfather to Calvin Hadlock and Charlie Welch, and he took special joy in spoiling his grandchildren in the ways only a loving grandparent can. He is also survived by many four-legged friends.
Scott’s love for life was found in simple, genuine pleasures: gardening, watching Sunday football, cars, and his Harley. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and good music. Handy and determined, he preferred to fix things himself whenever he could and stayed busy with home improvement projects—always working, always building, always tending to what mattered. When it was time to rest, he enjoyed nothing more than laying by a beach with a cold drink in his hand.
Scott was not a man of many words, but his loyalty and care ran deep. He loved to laugh and joke with friends and family, and his steady presence brought comfort to those around him. He will be missed immensely by his family and friends; Scott brought more light into the world than he realized.
A Memorial for Scott will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service - Drake Road Chapel, 650 W. Drake Rd., Ft. Collins, CO 80526, on October 23, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm. Scott will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery after.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Comfort Dog Ministry at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
