Sherri Lynne Hanak was born on July 31, 1961, in McCook, Nebraska, to Ralph and Marilyn Goltl. She passed away on October 11, 2025 in Aurora, Colorado.
Sherri grew up in McCook, where she was active on the YMCA swim team and in 4-H, competing with her horse, Reeda. She graduated from McCook High School and later earned her degree in psychology from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Sherri spent her career in public service at the Arapahoe County Correctional Facility before retiring.
She loved writing, reading, and traveling with friends and family. Her quick wit, generous nature, and deeply compassionate heart made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents and by her nephew, Nathan Rouse.
She is survived by her brother, Steve Goltl, and his wife, Mary, of Aiken, South Carolina; her niece, Nicole Morris, and her husband, Shane of Fort Collins, Colorado; her nephew, Justin Rouse of Estes Park, Colorado; great-nieces Hailey, Dakota, and Josephine; great-nephew Landon; and many beloved cousins and lifelong friends.
She will be cherished in memory and deeply missed by all who loved her.
The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Sherri to celebrate her life at a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 25th at the Drake Chapel, located at 650 W Drake Rd in Fort Collins.
