

Shirlee Shryack was born June 4 ,1938 in Longmont moved to Fort Collins when she was 3 years old, and lived here her whole life. It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Shirlee passed away on August 31. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Edward Shryack and Florence Evans Shryack, two brothers, Jess and Vincent, and a sister, Lillian. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children.
She attended Laurel Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, and Fort Collins High School. She also graduated from CSU in 1961, with a degree in physical education.
Shirlee and her mother operated “Artistic Dance Studio” in their home. Shirlee was a much sought after tap dance and ballet instructor.
After a back injury, she began a distinguished career as a Ward Clerk at Poudre Valley Hospital.
Upon her retirement in 1996, she opened “Sparky’s Boarding House” and dedicated herself, heart and soul to dog sitting. She was seen daily walking a herd of dogs around her East Side Neighborhood.
She was an amazing gardener, specializing in splendid roses of all colors. She was a talented seamstress, making many stunning quilts and produced intricate needlepoint creations which grace the walls of her friend’s homes near and far.
Shirlee was a wonderful friend and a generous, much beloved neighbor.
She died in the house where she had lived for 85 years. She spent her last days with her faithful dog Olive at her side. She will be thoroughly missed by her many friends, both canine and human.
No services will be held at Shirlee’s request.
