Theodore "John" Peters Jr.

Theodore John Peters, Jr. was born October 07, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Theodore John, Sr. and Mary Virginia (Myers) Peters; the second of three children. He grew up in Maxwell, Iowa and graduated in 1963, from Maxwell High School.

He moved to Colorado in 1971 to go to school, and became a computer field engineer. He later retired from CSU in 2013.

His love of the outdoors was awakened in 1954 by his scout master, Jack Pierce. He started shooting archery at that time, before precision equipment was made.

John joined the Colorado Bowhunters Association in 1971, and became a life member in 1972. He held several positions in the CBA Northeast, as an Area Rep and Regional director, Banquet Chairman, Jamboree Chairman, and with Dan Lenhart ran the King’s Canyon Archery Shoot for 25 years. He donated countless hours of volunteer service, also helping with the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids. He also donated a custom knife/knives every year for CBA events.

John raised 3 boys and passed his love and appreciation of the outdoors and archery down to the next generation.

He loved meeting new people, telling stories, and passing out arrowheads to encourage others to pass on much needed kindness.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Don, of Maxwell, Iowa, and grandson, Jarrod Peters.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, sons, Gary (Becky), Nicholas (Shannon), and Evan (Mande Quick), grandchildren Adam and Natalya Peters, and Sophia Waser. Also surviving are his sister, Carol Tinkham, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
