Timothy Donald Eager, 76, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2026 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Timothy lived a life devoted first and foremost to his walk with his Lord and Saviour and secondly to his family. Tim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He was born on May 22, 1949, in Greeley, Colorado, and was the first born to Donald and Marjorie Eager, who preceded him in death.
Tim's journey began in Colorado but his family moved to Eureka, CA for several years then moved to Cedaredge, CO on the Western Slope before ending up in Golden, CO where he graduated from Golden High School in 1967. His path then led him to Adams State College, in Alamosa, CO where he was initially studying to become an accountant. While there Tim met the love of his life Sherry. In his Junior year of college he transferred to Evangel College in Springfield, MO where he felt the Lord calling him into the ministry. This led him to Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, TX. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ministerial Studies in 1973 and later that same year was licensed with the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God. In 1975, he was ordained by the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
On August 15, 1970, Tim married the love of his life, Sherry Smith, in Denver, CO. Together, God blessed them with 55 memorable years of marriage, raising three rambunctious children and building a life that was centered around Christ and filled with friendship, adventure, and unwavering love. Their journey was a testament to their deep connection which began in college and continued to flourish through the years.
Tim's ministry began at Wellington Assembly of God in Wellington, CO, where he pastored for six years. He then embarked on a unique adventure, traveling with his family and parents in Kids Krusades for a year before moving to Fort Lupton, CO. There, he worked alongside his father at A&W Water Service as a truck driver in the oil fields, where he was known as the “Oilfield Pastor” because of his strong desire to share Christ with his coworkers and help guide them on their spiritual path.
In 1985 Tim answered the call to pastor the Windsor Assembly of God in Windsor, CO. Dedicating four years to doing the Lord's work leading and caring for his congregation. God's plan for his life later took him to Fort Collins, CO where he worked for Yancey's Food Service, driving a semi with doubles and delivering all across the I-25 corridor from 1988 until his retirement in 2015. Despite his demanding career, Tim remained committed to his faith, holding Sunday services at the Courtyard Retirement Center in Loveland, CO, and then eventually at Sierra Hills in Cheyenne, WY, providing spiritual guidance and compassion to those in need.
Beyond his professional life, Tim was a man of boundless energy and enthusiasm. He was effervescent, gregarious, and sociable, with an enigmatic charm that drew people to him. His determination and obstinate spirit meant he never wavered in his beliefs or his love for his family. Tim found joy in camping, traveling, and playing games with his family. He cherished these moments, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. His exuberant nature and conservative values were reflected in every aspect of his life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He truly was an example of how to live your life for Christ. While we mourn his loss we also celebrate and recognize the profound impact he had in each of our lives. He was loved so deeply by his family and the hole that is left is only filled by the blessed hope we have in Christ that we will meet again in our heavenly reunion.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry, his daughters Kandi Busby (Philip) of Loveland, CO, and Dee Anne Eager of Cheyenne, WY, his son Tyson Eager (Brittany) of Crestview, FL, and his cherished grandson, Elum Busby of Loveland, CO. He also leaves behind his brother Steven Eager (Marigean) of Gilcrest, CO, his sister, Connie Carter of Bentonville, AR, and numerous nephews and nieces.
