

Tomás was born on July 13, 1977, to Rosemary (Abeyta) and Tomás Díaz in Grand Junction, Colorado. Tomás grew up and lived in Delta, Colorado until 1984 when he and his family moved to Loveland, Colorado. He attended Loveland High School, graduating class of 1996. He was active in student council, football, and wrestling. His passion for cooking led him to varies establishments working as a chef and whipping up the most delicious food and baked goods. Tomás also enjoyed working as security guard and providing a safe and fun environment. He was known for his smile, laughter, and kindness heart. Tomás has a zest for living. His sense of humor, a touch of goofiness, and his spirited personality made him a joy to be around.
He also grew fond of watching movies and multiple different TV series. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan who rooted for them as a young child. Tomás loved spending time with his nephews and nieces, all while sending them home with some home cooking. His was also Uncle Mas to numerous adopted children of close friends and family.
He is survived by his father Tomás Díaz of Johnstown, siblings; Cristina Nañez (Christopher) of Greeley, and Lawrence Díaz of Loveland, his adored nephews, and nieces; Oscar Espinoza Díaz, Angelina Díaz, Marcelo Espinoza Díaz, Destiny Díaz, Santana Díaz, and Emiliano Díaz; and countless friends and extended family whose lives he touched.
Tomás is preceded in death by his mother Rosemary Díaz; grandparents Jimmy and Cris Abeyta, Rudolfo Díaz and Tomasa Carrillo de Díaz; uncles Tony Abeyta and Benito Díaz; aunts Debbie Abeyta and Debi Abeyta.
Tomás’s vibrant spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Tomás (aka Rufes/Tom Cat). Your legacy of love, joy, and unwavering spirit will forever be in our hearts, One love.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Rosary will be prayed for Tomás at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado, and Tomás will be laid to eternal rest with his mother, Rosemary, at 11:30am at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado. Please join the family back at the church for a reception at 12:30pm.
