Windsor, CO – Gertrude (Trudy) Walton Peischl, 81, died on March 9, 2025, after a battle with cancer. Trudy was born February 21, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Grace (Rowe) Walton and Aubrey S. Walton, Jr.
Trudy grew up on a farm, known as the Homestead, in Moorestown, New Jersey, with her parents and her sister Midge (Walton) Holmes. It was there that her love of animals blossomed, with the family dogs Pepper and Jill and horse Ginger. Trudy graduated from Moorestown High School in 1962, and attended Susquehanna University, where she majored in Liberal Studies, graduating in 1966 with a B.A. She later earned a master’s degree in Counseling and College Student Development from Mankato (Minnesota) State University in 1993.
Trudy met Tom, her husband of 54 years, at Susquehanna University. They were married in 1966 in Moorestown and they enjoyed their lives, numerous moves, and raising their children together. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her son Jeffrey (Jeff), daughter Terri, and grandson Wilson. One of Trudy’s passions was gardening. At every house she and Tom lived in, sections of the yards were transformed into beautiful flower gardens. Another passion was the training and companionship of the family dogs. Once Jeff and Terri left the house, Trudy and Tom were active in dog agility with their 4 dogs Suzie, Tasha, Emy, and Kelby. This led Trudy to her work that defined the last two plus decades of her life when she co-founded Northcentral Maltese Rescue, Inc., in 2001. Along with Tom, she helped foster, transport, and love the many rescue dogs that came to their home. She continued to be active with the rescue through December 2023.
Trudy is survived by her son Jeffrey Walton Peischl, daughter Terri Lynn Hall, grandson Wilson Michael Hall, and sister Midge (Walton) Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Michael Peischl, and son Roger Allen Peischl.
Trudy’s family extends their deepest appreciation to her doctors, the staff at the Medical Center of the Rockies, Columbine Commons Assisted Living, Columbine Commons Health and Rehab, and Pathways Hospice for their support. Cremation will be arranged by Allnutt Funeral Service. According to her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services.
