Túc is survived by the love of his life, Kimdung Thi Truong; his sons, Thanh Hung Huy Mai and Quoc Huan Huy Mai; his daughter-in-law, Kate Taylor; and grandson Liam Berning.
Túc was born in Hung Yen, Vietnam to Cau Huy Mai and Khoa Thi Mai. Túc bravely fought in the Vietnam War by serving in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN). After the war, Túc worked many years as a simple carpenter. On January 23rd, 1983, Túc married the love of his life, Kimdung Thi Truong. On December 31st, 1983, and November 24th, 1987, he welcomed his two wonderful sons, whom he brought from Vietnam to Fort Collins, Colorado. Túc is Vietnamese by blood, yet American by heart.
Túc loved soccer, hockey, and fishing. You could always find Túc fishing on the many lakes in Colorado and Wyoming.
Túc was a man of immense faith and a devoted Catholic. He raised both his sons to be faithful Catholics. Parishioners of John XXIII Catholic Church will be missing a faithful member and his beautiful smile.
Túc lived a simple life but accomplished so much. He overcame unfathomable obstacles to provide a better life for his family. We should all be so lucky to have such a father.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 AM on January 11th at John XXIII Catholic Church (1220 University Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80521). Flowers and condolences may be offered at John XXIII Catholic Church.
