He was born on July 4, 1963, in Torrington, Wyoming, to Phyllis and Eldon Duncan. Phyllis lovingly called Vince her “little firecracker,” as he was born on the holiday.
He grew up with a love for car racing and football—passions that remained with him throughout his life. Vince graduated from Mitchell High School in 1981. He assisted on the Doug Greer Race Team, where he met Brenda. Vince and Brenda married and welcomed their first son, Spencer. Shortly after, the family moved to Longmont, Colorado, where they welcomed their second son, Austin. Vince loved his boys deeply and did all he could for them.
In 2006, Vince and Lisa Duncan found one another through eHarmony and quickly proclaimed they had found their soulmates. On September 3, 2008, Vince and Lisa were married in Kauai, Hawaii. Vince was the best “bonus dad” to Spencer and Amanda and a loving best friend to his grandson Liam.
Vince’s love of cars led to a lifelong career in the automotive industry as a Parts Manager and Service Advisor, where he spent over 25 years. He was a dedicated employee of Houska Automotive for 17 years, proudly serving the Fort Collins community. During his time there, he took great pride in establishing the heavy-duty department. His final career transition was to Jay’s Automotive in Eaton, Colorado, where he worked as the Parts Department Manager.
Vince spent much of his free time at the racetrack with the Deines Racing and Walbaum Racing teams. He loved golfing, bicycling, fishing on Horsetooth, traveling, snorkeling, and cheering on the Nebraska Huskers, Denver Broncos, and Colorado Mammoth.
Vince is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children Spencer and Austin Duncan, Amanda (Wesley) Miller, and Spencer (Payton) Summers; his grandson Liam Miller; his brothers Travis (Mary) Duncan and Darren (Sandy) Duncan; his sister Patti Duncan (Jon Hardt); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and Eldon Duncan, and grandparents I.N. Gulley, Fritze Gulley, Clarence Duncan, and Oris Duncan.
A celebration of Vince's life will be held on Friday, October 24, at 3:00 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Rd., Fort Collins, CO, with a small reception to follow. Huskers, Broncos, and NASCAR attire are welcome.
Vince is deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, his genuine soul, his laughter, and his good-natured outlook on life.
