

Warren Stephen Blodgett (100) went home to his Savior on August 1, 2024. He was born November 12, 1923 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Warren Armor Blodgett and Verna Rose (Strickland) Blodgett. He graduated from Weldona HS in 1942 and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. After boot camp in Bremerton, WA he was chosen for special assignment as part of the unit that built the first three Loran Communication Stations in the Bering Sea. After training in Groton, CT, he was sent to St. Paul Island in the Pribilof Islands off Alaska. Returning to Seattle, one of his duties was to help patrol the piers along the Alaskan Way where civilians were not allowed at night. He was stationed aboard LST-205 which saw operations in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. Following the war, LST-205 became LSTH-205 on September 15, 1945 and performed occupation duties in the far East until Mid-Dec. 1945. He helped put many marines onto the Japanese Islands. Following his discharge on March 19, 1946, Warren returned to Colorado where he went to work for the Mountain Bell Telephone Co. until his retirement.
Warren married Marjorie Cathleen (Deines) on September 14, 1952. They were married 56 years, until Marjorie’s death in 2008. They made homes in Julesburg, Akron and Eaton. Colorado before settling in Fort Collins, Colorado for 48 years. They had two daughters, Janet Lynn (Donald) Hamm of Riceville, TN and Cathleen (Matthew) Skinner of Guthrie, OK. He has four grandchildren, Heather Rose (Hamm) Kady (Jess), Stuart Hamm, Ian Skinner and Jonathan Skinner (Kaitlyn), plus five great-grand-children, Hannah, Lily, Martin, Myra and Noel Kady. After Marjorie’s death, Warren moved to Guthrie, OK to be closer to his daughter Cathleen and her family.
Warren enjoyed his cats, gardening, woodworking, music and people. He also loved bowling, and at one point was one of Fort Collins best senior bowlers! Much like Will Rogers, he seldom met a person he didn’t like. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others. He was encouraging and enjoyed sharing his faith.
Warren was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie, his parents, his sisters Frances, Freda, Betty, Doris and Ruth and brothers, Douglas and James. As his siblings passed away, Warren became the patriarch of the Blodgett family, keeping in touch with his many beloved nieces and nephews.
