

Quinn, Allen Albert Sr., 84, passed peacefully in the early morning hours at his residence in Huntington Beach, CA on October 11, 2017. Allen was born April 28th, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA. At the onset of WWII Allen relocated with his family to Long Beach, CA. In Long Beach, Allen worked as a corner paperboy during the War and later at the Long Beach Pike. He graduated from Long Beach Poly High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served in the Chemical Corps at Ft. McClellan, AL where he met his wife of 60 years, Army WAC, Rose Marie Bramble. Together they settled in Huntington Beach, CA where they raised four children together. Allen worked the majority of his career in the railroad and trucking industry and later as a courier and security guard. He devoted his efforts and time to countless charities and organizations including youth 4-H groups and Garden Grove Elks. Allen was a founding member of Friends of Guide Dogs for the Blind and with his family raised many guide dog puppies. Allen's hobbies included, guard dog training, amateur radio, camping, and building Christmas displays. Allen earned several city and county ‘best residence’ awards for his annual Christmas displays at his home in Huntington Beach and brought joy to families and passerby's while playing the role of Santa Claus. Allen could lighten up any gathering with his off-the-cuff humor or by humming or singing one of his favorite songs. In his later years Allen struggled with his health and was a dignified fighter. He was a real man's man, a good man, and an excellent husband and father. Allen is survived by his four children, Mary Catherine Moya, Allen Quinn Jr., Dennis Quinn, William Quinn, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Allen was a beacon of love, strength and commitment to family and friends. Heaven is blessed to have Allen and he will be remembered and dearly missed by all. Allen will be interred with his wife Rose Marie at Riverside National Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 19th at 11:30 AM. Reception will be held Friday Oct. 20th at 11:00 AM at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge.
