Born on March 16, 1953 in Berkeley, CA, Beth lived a life defined by love, kindness, and devotion to her family.
Beth will be remembered for her loving heart, patient ear, and steady presence. She was the person her children called when they needed advice, reassurance, or simply someone to listen. Beth enjoyed baking, especially holiday cookies with her grandchildren, and hours making tamales alongside the extended Garcia family. These gatherings were among her favorite traditions and will be lasting memories for the whole family. Her endless retelling of the same stories, through which she demonstrated a love of history, interconnected with family, devotion to loved ones, and her appreciation of the outdoors.
After graduating from the University of California, Davis, Beth met Federico Garcia (Fred) while working at Cindy’s Diner, with whom she built a family and spent the next over 45 years.
Beth devoted years supporting her family as a stay-at-home mom, driving carpools and attending all of her children’s sports and school activities. Once her children were grown, Beth returned to teaching in the Fullerton Union High School District working with girls from Crittenton and later at La Sierra/La Vista Continuation High School.
Beth is survived by her husband Fred, 4 children: Brian (Chelsea), Luis (Maryly), David (Mitra), and Adriana (Greg), and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother (Phyllis Schnoor), father (Donald Schnoor), brother (Bryan Schnoor), and son (Federico).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
