

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Christine Renee Prince; his mother, Shirley; his three daughters, Anna, Catherine, and Bernadette; and his three grandchildren, Ethan, Audriana, and Bennett.
Bruce was born on October 2, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa. At the age of four, he moved to California with his parents, Richard and Shirley, along with his seven siblings. He attended La Quinta High School, where he met his future wife and high school sweetheart, Christine Slouka. During high school, Bruce was actively involved in athletics, playing baseball, football, golf, and went to CIF in wrestling. He also
participated in the concert band and jazz band, where he played the saxophone. In his senior year, he attended Golden West College for advanced math courses. Upon graduating from high school, Bruce was hired by the Garden Grove Police Department, working in the Property and Evidence Department and later becoming a cadet, marking the beginning of his lifelong career in law enforcement.
Bruce continued his education at California State University, Long Beach, where he majored in mathematics. After his third year, he chose to suspend his studies to fully pursue his career in law enforcement.
Bruce graduated from the Golden West Police Academy and was officially hired as a police officer by the department at age 21. He later completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Services.
Bruce and Christine were married in October 1981 and welcomed two daughters while living in Anaheim. They later made their home in Garden Grove, where they welcomed their third daughter and remained for 38 years. Bruce was very involved in his daughters’ school activities and held several board positions in the PTA. He was also active in band boosters and was a member of the Garden Grove Alley Association. Bruce was a member of Saint John Vianney Chapel, where he helped maintain the grounds and
support the office staff in the Prayer Cards Department.
During his career with GGPD, Bruce was a proud member of SWAT, Supervisor of The Gang Suppression Unit, Range Master for GGPD and Golden West Police Academy. He worked his way up through the ranks and after 30 years of dedicated service, retired as a Police Captain.
Bruce and Christine relocated to Yorba Linda in October 2024.
Bruce Joseph Prince will be laid to rest on April 25, 2026, following the recitation of the Holy Rosary and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at Saint John Paul II Roman Catholic Church in Yorba Linda. A graveside service will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in
Orange, California, with a Police Honor Guard.
