

C . Snyder Patin was born on September 26, 1930 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was the second of three children born to Lloyd Patin and Clemence Ricard. Snyder loved learning and excelled in school. As a young child he was very religious and enjoyed playing mass where he was the priest. At the age of 12, he went into the seminary in Mississippi. He left the seminary at age 18 to attend college before joining the army in 1953. While in the service, he married his first wife. They had two sons, Victor (deceased) & Martin. After leaving the service, he lived in New York where he attended Columbia University earning a bachelor of science degree in zoology in 1960. In 1963, he came to California where he met his second wife Lois Lastrapes. They married on August 12, 1964 and had two daughters, Kimberley & Rhonda. Snyder always had a strong interest in medicine and the sciences. He served as a research associate at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he co-authored thirteen publications in medical literature. In 1975, Snyder received his Juris Doctorate (cum laude) from Whittier School of Law. He had a successful career as a medical malpractice trial attorney. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of medicine and the law, lecturing widely to a variety of professional audiences. Snyder was still working until two months before his death. He also never stopped learning. He was always reading about history and studying the classics. Due to his love of education, one of his greatest joys was knowing all of his children graduated from college and graduate school. Snyder has two siblings: Euclid and Dolores Conant. He has eight grandchildren: Kenny, Ashley, Ashton, Kevin, Denise, Austin, Matthew, Jordyn-Alexis; and two great-grandchildren: Ryleigh and Anabelle. He also has one son-in-law: David Simpson. Snyder has touched the lives of many and left a lasting impression. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
