David Cooper Post

David Cooper Post passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, while on one of his many adventures abroad in Hong Kong at the age of 82. David had an immense love of travel, and it is only fitting that he passed away during an annual trip to his favorite place to visit. When not exploring the world, he resided in Anaheim Hills.

David was born on June 22, 1944, in Troy, New York, to Paul and Ruth Post. After graduating from Catholic Central High School in 1961 (go Purple and White!), he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Massachusetts. During this time, he met Nancy, his beloved wife of 61 years, and together they began their life in Anchorage, Alaska, where they formed lifelong friendships with Jim and Lori Harris. David went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Fullerton and a master’s degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach, and, through his dedication and strong work ethic, built a distinguished career in banking. Over the years, he developed many lasting relationships with colleagues at Security Pacific, Bank of America, and American Express.

In 1978, David’s work took the family to Hong Kong for three years. There, he fell in love with the city, its culture, and its people, and that connection remained with him throughout the rest of his life. While he spent most of his career and life in Southern California, he also had stops in Tokyo and Taipei. He was fortunate enough to retire for the first time at age 57, allowing him to spend more time taking long walks, reading financial reports, enjoying Starbucks, cruising, and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Much of his retirement was also devoted to planning his and Nancy’s next around-the-world adventure or visit with their grandchildren.

David is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy; his sons, Michael and James; his grandchildren, Sebastian, Fischer, and Olive; his sister, Ellen Normandin; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be remembered for his engaging conversations, generosity, keen attention to detail, and unwavering love for his family.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Fullerton, California on Saturday, September 12 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations to CatholicCharitiesUSA.org would be greatly appreciated.
