Deborah Lucille Robinson (Dee Dee/Debbie) was born to Etta Gwendolyn Drake and Garland Bolton Robinson on January 15, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While living with her Grandmother, Mendie Thornton, Dee Dee went to Clearview Elementary School (Clearview, OK). She attended junior high school at Blessed Martin Catholic School (Okla. City) and high school at Bishop McGuinness High School (Okla. City).
Dee Dee was baptized Methodist as a child in Clearview, Okla and later re-baptized Catholic at Blessed Martin Catholic Church in 1961. She grew up with Garland B. Robinson, Jr (Ruth), Dunn Cumby (Magnolia/Mac), Dale Cumby, Thomesene Cudjoe (Cedric), and Tom Withers Ill (Elaine) in Clearview.
Dee Dee graduated from Oklahoma State University (OSU) on May 25, 1969 with Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Microbiology and Chemistry. She joined Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority and was Alpha Phi Alpha Queen in her Sophomore year. She received a Post Graduate degree from University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. She used both degrees to work in several Southern California hospitals in all disciplines of the Clinical Laboratory. She finished her career working for Beckman Coulter, in Research & Development and Marketing for Clinical Laboratory equipment.
Dee Dee married Gregory Neal Tennyson Sr in 1967 and together they had a son, Gregory Neal Tennyson, Jr. both of whom were the love of her life. Gregory, Jr married Marie Botello and together they had a son, Gregory Neal Tennyson III. Dee Dee and Gregory Ill had a special relationship and referred to each other as “peanut butter and jelly”. Dee Dee loved to travel the world with family and friends. Dee Dee was truly devoted to her entire family and friends.
Dee Dee leaves behind to cherish her memory: a devoted son and wife, Gregory, Jr and Marie Tennyson; two devoted grandsons, Gregory, Ill and Edward; two granddaughters Samantha and Alexis; and eight great grandchildren. Dee Dee also leaves behind a huge host of cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and colleagues.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sets of grandparents, numerous cousins and all her aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday, July 27th held at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA.
The Funeral Service will take place 10 AM Wednesdday, July 29th at St. Denis Catholic Church, 2151 S Diamond Bar Blvd, Diamond Bar, followed by the Committal Service at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
