Dennis James Bedard, 72, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, daughters, and son-in-law after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia.
In 1979, Dennis founded Bedard Machine Inc. in Brea, California, where he built a respected aerospace manufacturing company. Throughout his nearly five decades in business, he was known as a visionary leader, mentor, teacher, and trusted colleague whose commitment to quality, generosity, and work ethic left a lasting impact on employees, customers, family and friends alike.
Dennis had an infectious enthusiasm for life, a wonderful sense of humor, and a gift for making everyone around him feel welcome. Whether in the shop, at the lake, on his motorcycle, traveling, on a walk or bike ride, or surrounded by family and friends, Dennis had a way of bringing people together and leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sue Bedard; his daughters, Carly Bedard and Christy Subia; his grandsons, Mason and Carter Subia; his son-in law, Clinton Subia, his siblings, Chuck Bedard, Danny Bedard, Nancy Symmes, Carol Robertson, Cathi Nelson, Karen Adam, Fran Biggins, John Bedard, and Sharon Bedard and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held July 30 at McAuly and Wallace, and a private burial will be held on July 31 followed by a Celebration of Life on September 26. Dennis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him. His legacy to work hard, play hard, laugh often, and love well will carry on in our hearts and lives.
