Dermot Patrick Gamble, 93, entered into eternal life on January 29, 2021. He was born in Santa Monica, CA, to Thomas and Eileen Gamble, and at age 17, volunteered to serve the wartime Navy as a Seabee, stationed in Okinawa and China. After discharge, he met Delores McFadden through the St. Anselm CHurch's Young People's Club, and they were married in 1950. They raised their children, Gerold, Dennis, Kevin, and Kathleen in both Los Angeles and Orange Counties, settling in Anaheim Hills. Married for 58, Dermot was a supportive role model through Delores's passing in 2008, and he remained in the same home until the end, suffering a stroke on January 28th, passing the following day. Dermot was a solid husband, father, brother, uncle, and a friend to many. He is survived by his four children, and grand-children (Meghan, Kathleen, Eileen, Leanne, Kare, and Charlie), and great-grandchildren (Madeline and Jonathan, and Chloe and Jack).
A memorial funeral Mass will be held at San Antonia Catholic Church on Saturday, February 27th at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations may be sent to www.HonorFlightSouthland.org or other charities of choice.
Due to current health conditions, interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange is uncertain at this time, and we are unable to host a reception. The family hopes that in late Spring/Summer conditions will allow us to have "A Toast to Dermot" in his memory. Contact may be made through family members.
