

Lewallen, Donald, age 88 of Rancho Mission Viejo passed away on August 27, 2024. He was born and raised in Texas. He served in the Texas National Guard followed by the Marines which brought him to California. He was very proud to be a Marine. After completing his service in the Marines, he moved to California permanently, initially to attend Pepperdine University. He graduated from Pepperdine with a degree in Physics and a minor in Mathematics. Pepperdine is also where he met his wife, Penny. They were married 56 years when she passed in 2019. He worked his entire career at Northrop Corporation in the Aircraft Division and especially had a passion for flight test engineering. He was always active in his community, generously donating time to numerous charitable, community organizations, and his kids’ activities. In particular, he was a long-time member of the Fullerton Elks Lodge.
Some of his hobbies included golf and playing bridge. Also, he was skilled at most any project, repair, construction, etc. that he took on. His friends and family remember him as someone who brought light and humor to all.
He is survived by his children and their spouses Steven Lewallen (Bret Green) and Cindy Allensworth (Sam Allensworth), and grandchildren Trevor Allensworth and Jake Allensworth.
