Dorothy Ada Alice McKim

Dorothy Ada Alice McKim went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born on May 19, 1929, in Lamar, Colorado, to Mortie and Dollie Alexander. She had an older sister Juline, and a younger brother Arthur. Dorothy grew up enjoying country living and continued to love growing her garden and loving the little creatures of this world all of her life.

In 1947, she met Logan McKim and they married shortly after. They began their married life together in Lamar. Logan was a truck driver and after a few years was offered a job in Denver. The family moved to Denver with their 2 sons, Gregory and Phillip. After a while, two more additions were added to the family in; a daughter Cynthia and a son Cameron, rounding out their family. Dorothy went to cosmetology school and worked as a beautician for many years. In 1967, Logan was transferred to California by his trucking company. A new life was made in Fullerton. Dorothy found a job working for a company called Welcome Wagon. She enjoyed welcoming new families to the neighborhood. When her children were grown, Dorothy went back to school to learn payroll. She worked at the Fullerton School district in the payroll department until she retired.

Dorothy enjoyed having big family and friend get togethers for the holidays. She would make big dinners for everyone to enjoy. She was a great cook and loved trying new recipes and sharing them with others. From making chocolate pie or pizza sized chocolate chip cookies or the family tradition of making homemade peppermint stick ice cream on the fourth of July, they were all delicious and made with a touch of love.

Dorothy had many interests. She and her husband Logan enjoyed bowling and were on bowling leagues for many years. She loved to travel, and went to Europe with some friends twice, as well as adventuring on many road trips around the country. She was also a gifted artist. She loved the mountains and the ocean and visited them as often as possible, taking pictures and creating paintings that represented their beauty. Dorothy shared her talents through example and gifting her creations to many.

Dorothy is survived by her four children: Greg McKim of Ventura, CA, Phillip McKim and his wife Connie, of Nipomo, CA, Cynthia Morris and her husband Robert of Yorba Linda, CA and Cameron McKim and his wife Catherine of Las Vegas, NV, 9 grandchildren: Shannon McKim, Trevor McKim, Jeremy McKim, Holly Morris, James Morris, Katheryn Morris Benson, Elizabeth Morris Sellek, Alexandria McKim Fradin, and Delanie McKim, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
