Eddie Sy, 78, of Cabagan, Isabela, Philippines and La Habra, CA passed away suddenly, leaving his family and friends in deep shock and profound grief.
Born and raised in Cabagan, Eddie was a visionary and accomplished entrepreneur who dedicated his life to building a future for his family. He began his business career dealing in tobacco, rice, corn, and textiles. Supported by his three siblings in the United States, Eddie operated as a forward-thinking businessman, later diversifying his enterprises to proudly introduce the very first copy machine, laminating services, school supplies, and poultry food supplies to his hometown. Though Eddie never had the opportunity to finish college himself, his ultimate goal was ensuring his children did. Through his decades of hard work and multi-faceted businesses, he successfully supported all four of his children, ensuring they attended reputable schools and graduated from university.
In his later years, Eddie embraced a beautiful, slower pace of life focused entirely on his family and his faith. He and his loving wife shared an enduring and beautiful marriage of 55 years. Together, they devoted their time to going to church, embarking on meaningful religious pilgrimages, traveling, visiting family in the Philippines, going for walks, watching their favorite television series, and exploring new foods.
Eddie’s greatest joy was food—both experiencing it and sharing it. He loved nothing more than cooking delicious meals for his children, grandchildren, and siblings, sharing his love and laughter through every dish.
Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Lina, and his four children and their spouses: Marvin and Anne, Myrene and Patrick, Marlon and Jane, and Mark and Edma. His greatest legacy lives on through his 10 cherished grandchildren, as well as his five siblings, who will forever remember his kindness, generosity, and warmth. He will be deeply missed.
