
MATHOS, Ernest Thomas Born on May 6, 1918 in Warren, Rhode Island, Ernie passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, CA on February 21, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Billye , the love of his life, with whom he traveled the world. He also leaves behind four children: Tim, Joanne, Steve and Sue (Parszik), nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Ernie started his career as a radio operator on the Great Lakes. He moved on to more exotic ports such as Haiti, St. Lucia and Puerto Rico while working for Pan American Airlines, where he and Billye met. They later returned to the states and settled in Southern California, where he worked as an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ernie was a true gentlemen who led a selfless life of caring and compassion. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. The viewing will be Saturday, March 5th at McAulay and Wallace Mortuary at 902 N. Harbor Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92832 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. followed by a service from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following at Los Coyotes Country Club - 8888 Los Coyotes Dr., Buena Park, CA 90621 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The internment will be at Ascencion Cemetery at 24754 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest 92630 on Monday, March 7, at 12 noon.
