Geoffrey Robbins Irwin

Geoffrey Robbins Irwin, affectionately known to everyone as Geoff, passed away in Fullerton, California, on July 8, 2026. He was 73 years old. Born on December 12, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, Geoff was a man who loved life fully and ensured that everyone around him enjoyed it just as much.

Geoff's passion for baseball defined his early years. A standout athlete, he played through his college years at Chapman University, where he earned the distinction of pitching Chapman's first NCAA no-hitter. His talent eventually took him to Ecuador, where he played professional baseball for two seasons. However, Chapman gave him much more than a sports career; it was there that he studied theology—deepening a faith that took root in high school—and met the love of his life, Susan.

Geoff and Susan married in 1982 and built a beautiful life together in Fullerton, where they raised their three children. He spent 25 years in manufacturing with Steelcase, Inc., and later worked in retail marketing until his retirement in 2019. If you asked Geoff about his greatest achievement, he would instantly tell you it was his family. He was a constant presence in his children's lives, attending Alexandra's dance recitals, coaching Gregory’s sports teams, and admiring Emily's artistic talents. Family vacations were always a highlight, from making memories on the farm in North Dakota to soaking up the sun in Hawaii and Florida.

After he and Susie retired, they treasured their freedom to travel and spend time with family. An avid sportsman throughout his life, Geoff also developed a deep love for golf, keeping sets of clubs waiting for him at homes in California, Tennessee, and North Dakota. Nothing brought him more joy, however, than rooting for his grandchildren in everything from football, volleyball, and baseball to school plays.

Geoff's sense of humor was legendary, bringing fun wherever he went. He was honest, generous, fiercely loyal, and held a beautifully simple faith. He often reminded loved ones, "Give it to God, you can trust Him." Having received Jesus Christ as his Savior in high school, he grew in his faith under the ministry of Chuck Smith and frequently ended his prayers by thanking God for the cross. Geoff has now entered his heavenly home, "gathered unto his people" alongside the family and friends who awaited his arrival.

Geoff is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his son, Gregory (Jessica) Irwin; his daughters, Alexandra (Bruce) Anliker and Emily (Morgan) Nelson; and his ten grandchildren: Noah, Emery, Isaiah, Oliver, Isla, Rauly, Anna, Calin, Ira, Vernon, and a grandson expected in January. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Irwin, and his sisters, Laura (Larry) Randolph and Margaret (Lynn) Crew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William and Georgeanna Jackson; his infant daughter, Amy Elizabeth; and his sister-in-law, Kavita Irwin.

Geoff, we will miss you deeply as a husband, father, "Papa," and friend. Until the day you meet us at the gates of heaven, we say goodbye.

Celebration of Life A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 25th, at 10:00 a.m. at Fullerton Free Church in Fullerton, California.
