George Alexander Arroyo, 100, died on June 14, 2026. Born February 18, 1926, in El Paso, Texas, George lived in Placentia, California, where he was long known as a steady presence, a welcoming neighbor, and a man whose warmth and generosity left a lasting mark on those around him.
A World War II veteran, George served in the United States Army as a Private and was discharged on August 8, 1945. In the years that followed, he brought the same discipline and heart to civilian life—boxing with the Orange County Athletic Club in 1946, and later, in the 1970s, training others through the Placentia Athletic Club.
George’s devotion to community was not occasional—it was a way of life. He was honored twice as Volunteer of the Year by the City of Placentia, recognized for selfless service and a consistent commitment to helping others. His kindness was practical and personal: he had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. If you drove past his home, you could count on a wave and a smile—small gestures that reflected a larger spirit of care.
Music was one of George’s great joys, and he never missed an opportunity to get up and dance. He carried himself with an easy grace that invited others in, and his caring nature touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Arroyo. He is survived by 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, July 10th, 2026 at 10:30am, with a committal service following at Holy Sepulcher in Orange. A reception will immediately follow at American Legion- Post 277, 230 Bradford Ave, Placentia.
George will be deeply missed and forever remembered—as a beloved father, grandfather, friend, neighbor, and veteran whose life was defined by service, generosity, and a spirit that made others feel at home.
