Harold Dean McClard

Harold Dean McClard, 82, of Placentia, California passed away February 18, 2016 with his family by his side. Born April 7, 1933 in Dexter, MO., and moving to Oildale, California at the age 3. Prior to establishing residence in Placentia for over 40 years with his wife Lynn and 5 children, Harold served in the United States Airforce as a radio operator from 1953 – 1956. Harold excelled in his chosen profession as a land surveyor working hard to achieve success with Tait & Associates and Johnson – Frank & Associates, dedicating 15+ years to each. Additionally, Harold shared his wisdom and knowledge as a mentor training and teaching young professionals aspiring to become land surveyors. Being a soccer enthusiast, Harold advocated to establish and provided leadership for a youth soccer program (now known as JUSA) in his surrounding communities of Placentia, Brea and Fullerton.  One of Harold’s most valuable accomplishments was assisting goalie Dave Jokerst, of the California Surfs, to bring indoor soccer to all of Southern California.  Harold treasured family vacations on the Colorado River and Lake Mead where he could enjoy his love of fishing and boating.  He also enjoyed camping in various national and state parks, while fitting in a few trips to Las Vegas. In retirement Harold tried his best “not to retire”. He continued to work as a consultant for many cities, developing a data base system for their use of center line ties.  Harold was a faithful attendee at all of his grandchildren’s athletic  and school events, including, football, wrestling, soccer, baseball, water polo and basketball as well as musical concerts and other  performances. Harold was devoted to his family and wife, who learned to live, love, laugh and pray with him. Harold is survived by his loving wife Lynn of 57 years ; five children: Debra, Suzanne, Nancy (Tony), Cheryl (Joe) and Jeffery (Mary); seventeen grandchildren: Robyn, Michael, (Jeannette he will be meeting in Heaven), Daniel, Zachary, Samantha, Heather, Billy, Bridgette, Joseph, Adam, Haylee,  Arron, Scott, Alex , Andrew, and Sawyer; eight great-grandchildren: Bryce, Eli, Cali, Piper, Parker, Scarlett,  Dakota, and Summer; brother Lloyd (Gail); Aunt Joyce; brother in law  Ernst (Mary); sister in laws Clair and Judy.  All of whom will miss him dearly. Viewing is scheduled on Friday, March 4, 2016 at McAulay and Wallace Mortuary from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, 902 North Harbor Blvd, Fullerton; Ca. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1 pm at Loma Vista Memorial Park, 701 East Bastanchury Road, Fullerton Ca. In lieu of flowers the  family is requesting donations be made in memory of Harold D McClard  to Alzheimer’s, Orange County at Alz.org.
