Harvey Thompson, 99, of Fullerton, passed peacefully from this life on May 2, 2016. He was born on August 21,1916 in Visalia, California. As a young boy, Harvey also lived for a while in Santa Ana, Laguna Beach, Signal Hill, and Long Beach. After graduating from Long Beach Poly High School in 1935, Harvey met the love of his life, Elizabeth Brown, at the California Heights Methodist Church in Long Beach. They were married in 1940 and began raising their family in Long Beach. Harvey spent his working career at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach where he supervised technical writers. The family moved to Orange County in 1951, settling in Fullerton where Harvey resided for nearly 60 years. He retired early to devote more time to the First Baptist Church of Fullerton where he taught Sunday School and Bible studies and led faith sharing groups. In later years, Harvey was also active in the First Baptist Church of Yorba Linda and the Immanuel Baptist Church of Long Beach. It was the joy of Harvey's life to share his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Harvey was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth, in 1997, and is survived by sons Kenneth (Nancy), John (Teresa), Stanley (Teri), and daughter Joanne Platts. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Harvey's family extends heart-felt thanks to the staff at Golden Years Assisted Living in Yorba Linda (Mary, Fia, Larry, Paulina, Connor and JJ) who lovingly cared for Harvey in his last months.
