Helen Ida Jank, 76, passed away peacefully at home in Placentia on July 28, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. Helen was born on October 3, 1937. She is the daughter of Arthur Jank and Bertha Zeeb. They had seven children: Anne, Hermann, Helen, Arthur, Orville, Paul and Louise. Helen is survived by her sister, Anne Park, and two brothers, Herman Jank and Paul Jank, as well as her best friend and long-time companion Thomas Kelly. She is pre-deceased by two brothers, Arthur and Orville, and sister Louise. After high school, she moved to New York, put herself through nursing school, and then later moved to California. She worked as a nurse and specialized in assisting eye surgeries at Long Beach Memorial Hospital for many years. Helen was very proud of her career as a nurse. Helen met her best friend and companion, Thomas Kelly in 2006 and they started a new life together. From the moment they met they were inseparable. Helen loved family parties and always had treats and goodies to share with everyone who came over to the house. Together they loved going to Laguna Beach or Palm Springs. They liked to watch TV and retire early to listen to the old songs on the music channel, or watch the news or game shows. Helen loved to sing and knew the words to the old songs. We recently found out that Helen is the third-great granddaughter of Robert Schumann the German composer and Clara Schumann, composer and concert pianist. Helen will be missed greatly. Services will be at McAulay & Wallace Yorba Linda, CA on August 9, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
