Dr. DeSilva was my doctor at St Joe’s and was a calm presence during a hard time. He recommended and performed ECT for me years ago. His care undoubtedly changed the trajectory of life at that time. He truly cared about his patients and I think often about his impact on me and countless others he has cared for. I appreciate all of his dedication and true compassion he showed at St Joes. 
I’m thinking of his family and loved ones during this time.

Dr DeSilva,or Siri, was a true gentleman and compassionate man. I worked with him for 10 years and we shared a friendship that I will always cherish. When I returned to SJH for another 2 years, he was my greatest supporter and mentor. We shared laughs and stories and he brought such a calmness to the workplace. Rest in peace my friend

It was a joy working with Dr. DeSilva on the inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units of Saint Joseph’s from 2001 through 2019. I remember the way he would answer patients’ questions and provide helpful information during group sessions. He did this not only for patients, but for staff, while strolling into the nurse’s station or joining a staff meeting. Dr. DeSilva was the kindest doctor I have ever worked with. He always went out of his way to attend to his many patients. As a nurse case manager, he made me feel like a valued part of the outpatient behavioral team. I so enjoyed working with him and learned so much. On a personal note, when he heard that my husband desperately needed a  Surgeon; he directly connected us with top one. My thoughts are with his family.   His memory is truly a blessing.

I worked from 2000 to 2026 , I had the honor to work with Dr. Desilva on the St. Joseph psychiatric  unit. I was educated with his brilliance and kindness he brought to the unit , Yes, there were times he needed to express his plan of care on each of his patients , which showed the nursing staff guidance  and inspiration. He was always taking time to listen and uplift.  His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched reminding us that brilliance shines brightest when paired with kindness. I have so many memories of working with Dr. Desilva.   2 of my favorite non-medical memories are:  after I went to the Italian Car Show in Monterey, CA and sharing my photos with Dr  Desilva, he would always asked me how my Lamborghini was doing?  A bit of a private joke.  But he truly took the time and seemed genuinely interested in my experience. 
The second memory I'd like to share:  I used to bring my dog with me and kept him in the car, set up with food, water and fresh air.  Of course I parked in the covered lot.  I would walk Chico on my breaks and one day, while over by partial, Dr. Desilva was coming out out the building and walked with Chico and I.  It was so sweet.  I loved having that time together.  It was really special.

Sending my deepest and heartfelt sympathies over the passing of Dr. Himasiri Desilva.   He was the reason for my 27 years of service on BHS at St. Joe's of Orange. I first met him when I joined the team of Dr. Coskinas and Dr. De Silva as a clinical coordinator doing clinical drug trials.  When it was time for me to leave Dr DeSilva said " where are you going?"  Truthfully, I did not know.  He said come with me and brought me over to St. Joe's.  I knew, the minute I walked through the doors and onto the unit, that this would be my last stop.  And it was.  I have been retired for 3 years now, but will always remember Dr. Desilva and his belief in me.    I am truly saddened by the loss and am sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.  May his memory be forever a blessing   Linda Rich.

I loved Dr DeSilva.  I am so grateful that we were able to work together for many years at St Joseph Hospital.  I learned so much from him.  He always treated everyone with the utmost respect.  I am also grateful that he was my friend.  God bless his soul and God bless his wonderful family.

Siri will be fondly remembered by all of us who were touched by his kindness, his dignity, and his wisdom. 
He was a champion of teaching, and helped generations of nursing students get exposed to psychiatry. 
His memory will be cherished.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Desilva's passing. I had the honor of working with him at St. Joseph Hospital for many years, and he was one of my favorite doctors to work with.  He was always smiling, and he was one of the kindest souls who walked this planet. I am so grateful for all he gave to our psychiatry services over the years at St. Joseph Hospital, and for his leadership.  May God bless his soul and comfort his beautiful family.
