John William Fenn went to be with the Lord July 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born July 20, 1936 in Elkhorn, WI to John and Judy Fenn. He was raised in Delevan, WI with sister Donna Rice (Charles d2001), who predeceased John in 2017, and brother James Fenn (Cathy). After high school, John served in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Assigned to 1st Marine Division, combat loading and unloading specialist. This assignment would serve him well in the future as he learned to lead, instruct, delegate, and plan. During his stint at Pendleton, John met Sandra Kelsey at a local roller rink in the city of Anaheim. After leaving the Corps, he would marry Sandra and their family quickly grew to six in a five-year period. John started his career at the US Postal Service in Anaheim in 1960, eventually earning the title of facilities manager. In 1964, he took a side job at newly built Anaheim Stadium as an usher. By 1975 he was the head usher, overseeing all areas of stadium operations. Soon after, John was put in charge of creating a new Anaheim Way orientation program for all employees of the Stadium, Convention Center, and both city golf courses. This program became so successful, John was asked to present it to other cities in the US and Canada. Pretty nice for a part-time job, and the perks weren't bad either. Imagine all the great moments John experienced while working at the Big"A" from 1964 to 1991! John was a man of great faith and his gift of impromptu prayer was a highlight at all family gatherings. In retirement, John and his second wife Kathy (Copple), who he met through mutual friends, would load up their trusty motor home and travel cross country every Spring to volunteer their time and talents at the Sagrada Bible Camp in Missouri. John knew his way around a toolbox and was adept at all aspects of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, tiling, etc.. If it was broken, he could fix it. He put those skills to good use at the Camp, but he was readily available for anybody else that needed a little repair work done here or there. John also loved playing golf, camping, fishing and all types of card and board games. He was a jigsaw puzzle master. But his true joy in life was watching his grandchildren's special events. No matter the weather conditions, or the distance to get there, John was in attendance. John and Kathy were heavily involved at Calvary Church in Santa Ana. There were no strangers in John's life, as he could and would befriend everyone he came in contact with. Countless people were blessed to have known this man. The many friends and familiar faces at Calvary will be a source of comfort for Kathy going forward. John is survived by his loving wife, spiritual leader, and soulmate Kathy, her daughters Lori Gallagher (Ken) and Teri Peterson (Donn), and her four grandchildren; first wife Sandra, their four children Kelly Maxsenti (Mike), Lisa Witt (Mike), Greg Fenn (Lori), and Laurie Armentrout (Dan), their nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his first great-granddaughter due in October. John's was a life based on faith and love of family. He will be greatly missed by all.
