

Born November 24, 1929 in Beech Bottom, West Virginia to John and Mary Michael, he was one of four children and their only son. During his childhood, John learned many skills from his father that proved to inspire his love for building things. He enlisted in the Marines in 1947 shortly after his high school graduation. He served for over four years earning the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1951.
In 1953, he married Patsy, the love of his life. They were residing in Houston, Texas when John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Houston in 1960. A job offer from Autonetics brought them to Southern California in May 1960 where he worked for the next 10 years as a Senior Engineer and Technical Staff Member. For the latter part of his career, he spent 33 years working for Econolite Control Products in Anaheim well into his 70’s. The longevity of his career demonstrated John’s excellent work ethic. He especially enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and completed many beautiful projects throughout his lifetime. He took great care in everything he put his hand to.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife in 2013. He is survived by his three children, John Jr. (Alison), Carol (Doug), and Peggy (Matt), six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
