Kathleen Gail Schulte

Kathleen Gail (Reynolds) Schulte was the daughter of Gerard Paul Reynolds and Mary Rita Galaise Reynolds on July 10,1939 in Saratoga Springs, New York. She grew up with 2 brothers: Eugene and Thomas and one sister: Jacqueline. During her high school years, her family moved to Inglewood, California. After graduating from high school, she attended UCLA for two years. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Ralph Joseph “Joe” Schulte. She put her college career on hold to start a new life with Joe to raise a family. After they were wed, they lived in Inglewood but then moved to Simi Valley where their family grew to include five children: Pat, Karen, Scott, Alane and Jackie.

As their family continued to grow, it was time to look for a bigger home. A newly developing housing tract was being built in Yorba Linda which provided the greater space they all needed. This was to be the residence that Kathy, Joe and her family continued to live at throughout the rest of their lives. But with more space came more kids. Bobby and Jenny were welcome additions to the family over the next few years. Raising 7 kids was no small feat; however, Kathy did so with great faith and strength and determination. Family dinners at the dinner table and Sunday mass attendance were just some of the non-negotiables that helped to strengthen the family ties.

Kathy enjoyed a variety of hobbies of her lifetime. Speed skating on the frozen lakes in New York was often a fond memory that she would share with her family. Kathy also enjoyed playing the violin, bowling, camping, traveling and hunting for antiques. She also loved to attend her childrens’ sports events which tallied up many hours on the sidelines of baseball, soccer and football games.

During the later years of the 1970’s, Kathy returned to college to complete her education which was a promise she made to her father before she left school to get married and raise a family. She attended Cal State University Fullerton where she earned her bachelor’s degree and Masters in Social Work. She worked at Florence Crittenton and as a Senior Social worker for the County of Orange devoting hours to the protection of children. She retired early to care for her husband in his final years.

Kathy was a devoted Catholic. Her faith was passed to her children through example and sacrifice. Her family grew to include her sons-in-law: Mike, Mark, Andy and Steve, her daughters-in-law: Leslie and Beverly, 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Kathy died on August 3, 2026. Her funeral services will be held at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Yorba Linda: rosary at 11:30 followed by a mass at 12:00 and burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. May she rest in the Peace of Christ.
