Lawrence E. Mercier, July 18, 1933-July 19,2016. Larry, (Merc), was born in Turner, Kansas growing up on the family farm with his brother, Louis, and sister Noreen. He joined the Marines and earned a full scholarship to Kansas University where he began a lifelong passion for Jayhawks basketball. Larry met his wife Patricia at KU and they traveled the world together-from Hong Kong to the Soviet Union and Belgium. Pat and Merc were happy to welcome two children into the world, Michael and Laura, who they raised in San Diego and Placentia, California. Merc was loved dearly by his family, who will miss his stories, humor, and unrelenting support for any KU athlete.
