

Love, Kindness, Grace, Humility, Gravitas Mrs. Lena Sanfilippo passed away last Thursday morning, July 17, 2014, she was 91 years young. Born January 6, 1923 in Victor, New York the 7th of 12 children by Dominick and Mary Parisi, Lena was one of the first young women in the decade of the 40s to receive a full scholarship to the prestigious Eastman School of Music (think, Juilliard) at the University of Rochester in upstate New York. She moved to California in the early 1950s with her husband Marco and her two children, Florence and Jim, where her career as an elementary school teacher guided nearly 1,000 admiring students spanning 35 years. She was known for her exceptional kindness and humility, her love of family, her dedication to teaching, her music, her strength, her determination and her pure heart. Lena is survived by her daughter Florence, her son Jim and her three loving grandchildren, Katherine, Christian and Alexandria.
