

Marguerite Lea Noutary- Lt. Colonel US Army, 94, passed away on December 6, 2011. Marguerite was a resident of Fullerton for 94 years. Born in Fullerton in 1917, she was one of the original settling families, of the Fullerton/Orange County area who migrated from France in 1905. She cherished and had many lifetime memories of the 1899 Historical Landmark home that she was born in and lived in, her entire life. She was a true historian and loved sharing her knowledge about the early days of Fullerton and captivated many, with stories that could keep you listening for hours. She has shared her fascinating life story with the Orange County Historical society so history may never be lost. After completing her education at Orange County School of Nursing in 1940, she joined the Army Nurse Corps where she served for 36 years. Marguerite is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with honors and served in World War II, Burma, India and China. Upon her return, she worked for 41 yrs. as a Director of the State Hospital in Norwalk and Department of Health in Psychiatry of California. Marguerite was very active and social. She loved to travel, attend lectures, oil paint, taught French and Spanish to others, enjoyed her garden and always wanted to challenge her mind to learn new things throughout her life. She always wanted to help others and was part of many charitable outreaches. She volunteered one day a week at the St. Francis Home for 30 years, was a Native Daughters/Grace Parlor member for 39 years, a Foundation Board Member Donor at St. Jude Hospital, member at St. Marys Parish, donor to the Fullerton Arboretum, member and donor to Orange County Historical Society and Cal State Fullerton. Her family and friends will always remember Marguerite for her zest and passion for life, her laugh, intelligence, support, love and all that she did to help and give to others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will be honored with a full military funeral. Mass will be 10 AM Thurs. Dec. 15th at St. Marys Catholic Church, 400 West Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton. Burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange. Services arranged by McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, Fullerton.
