Maria Pia Nicassio

Maria Nicassio was born October 16, 1934 in Grottaminarda Italy, passed away on March 16, 2016. She was the fifth of nine children. She left Italy at the age of 17 for England where she met and married her husband of 61 years, Gennaro (Jerry) Nicassio, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They moved to her husband's home in New York and later to Connecticut where they raised their four children. In 1975 the family moved to Placentia, CA. She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed making all the traditional Italian foods and put on many great feasts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and keeping an immaculately clean house. But her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren who all loved and adored her. She is survived by her husband, Gennaro (Jerry) Nicassio, their four children, Valentina Meeks, (Husband-Gary) William Nicassio (Wife-Kathryn), Laura Wachter (Husband-Thomas), and Jean Nicassio, and her nine grandchildren, Matthew Nicassio (Wife-Andrea), GiovannaNicassio and Emma Nicassio; Daniel Meeks (Wife-Doreen), Lauren Meeks Hansen (Husband-Casey), Michael Meeks, Andrew (Drew)Wachter, Joseph Wachter and Nina Wachter and her great-grandson, Noah Nicassio. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., preceded at 9:15 a.m. with a Rosary at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Church, 3999 Rose Drive, Yorba Linda. Burial will be on March 31st at 11:15 a.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery.
