Mel Bennett was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on May 9, 1931 and passed away on Nov. 3, 2023, in Fullerton, CA at the age of 92.
He graduated from college with a teaching degree in mathematics and arrived in Fullerton, CA in 1958. He became a math teacher in Fullerton Union High School until he retired in 1989. He married his wife Janice in 1962 who died some 20 years ago.
Mel became a member what is now the United Church of God in 1976 and was faithful to the end. One of his hobbies was doing magic tricks and became very proficient at it. He entertained everyone in our Church socials when we had talent shows.
It was a privilege to have Mel as a friend. He was always kind and a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed, but we look forward to seeing him again in God’s kingdom.
A graveside service for Melvin will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Loma Vista Memorial Park, 701 East Bastanchury Road, Fullerton, CA 92835, followed by a graveside service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
