

Nancy Sue Lord passed away June 28th, 2021 in Fullerton, CA at the age of 81. She was born in Los Angeles, CA, October 20th, 1939, to Richard McWhorter and Loreine McWhorter. Nancy graduated Marlborough High School in 1957 and then attended the University of Southern California, and Cal State Northridge for her undergraduate degree. She later attended and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Masters in Special Education in 1974. Soon after graduating in 1974, she met the love of her life, Michael Lord, in Cincinnati, OH, and they were married later the same year. Due to Michaels job, with an engineering and construction company they moved each year to a different project. Starting in 1974 they moved to Fort Wayne, IN, then to Cedar Rapids, IA, then to Covington, VA, then to Perry, GA. In 1977 the two lovebirds moved to Fullerton, CA where they lived for the next 22 years. Nancy was a devoted mother of 5 children and was deeply involved in their activities. She also volunteered in many capacities at St. Juliana Falconieri Church, including parents club president. In 1999, while still keeping their home in Fullerton, Nancy and Michael began moving again for work. Nancy loved to travel and to see and explore new places. Between 1999 and 2010 they moved to Newark, NJ – Plymouth, IN – Staten Island, NY – Edison, NJ – Mishawaka, IN – Elkhart, IN – New Brunswick, NJ – Ephrata, PA – and Lebanon, PA.
Upon Michaels’ retirement in 2010 they moved back to their home in Fullerton, CA. Nancy’s love of travel continued as she and Michael visited many countries including Italy, Greece, Spain, Israel, Germany, Austria, Panama, Scandinavia, Mexico, France, and Ireland. In 2017, at the age of 78, Nancy and Michael walked the 500 mile, Camino de Santiago, in Spain. Shortly after her cancer diagnosis in, 2019, she walked the last 10 km of the Camino to celebrate her milestone 80th birthday with most of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard “Dicky” McWhorter and is survived by her loving husband Michael, her children, Lisa, David, Kevin, Patrick, and Daniel, and her twelve grandchildren. A Viewing/Rosary will be held on July 15th between 4-8 pm with the Rosary to begin at 7pm at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary in Fullerton. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Juliana Church, in Fullerton, on July 16th at 10 am with reception to follow. After the reception the interment will take place at Loma Vista Memorial Park at 2 pm, also in Fullerton. In lieu of flowers donations to The Nature Conservancy can be made.
