Patricia Ann DeRose, 74, of Yorba Linda, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday December 3, 2019 at Placentia Linda Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She had battled cancer for more than fifteen years.
Patricia Ann Crum, was born on September 22, 1945 to Wells and Vivian Crum in Wallace, Ohio where she lived until 1955 when they moved to Southern California. Patty, as most knew her, spent most of her life in Brea, CA as both a child and adult, and also lived in Hawaii and Las Vegas for a short period. Patty considered Brea her hometown as she attended Brea Junior High, Brea-Olinda High School, and Fullerton Junior College. Patty was easily one of the best female athletes at Brea-Olinda High School as her friends describe. In addition to her athleticism, she loved fashion and socializing with her friends.
Throughout her career, Patty worked at Magnus Drug Store, Knotts Berry Farm, Goodyear Tire Store, and spent 34 years working in a variety of positions at Beckman Coulter (a.k.a. Beckman Instruments) from 1966-1969 and 1976-2007. Patty retired from Beckman as a Fleet Manager in 2007.
In 1998 while working at Beckman Coulter, Patty met John DeRose of Yorba Linda and they married in 2006. John and Patty enjoyed a wonderful life together, exploring the beach, beautiful lakes, and all the outdoors had to offer in their travel trailer.
Patty always enjoyed running, hiking, 60’s music, fashion, laughing, animals, working in the yard, feeding and watching the birds, being around family and friends, and whole-heartedly caring for others. Patty regularly contributed to charities such as Wounded Warriors and United Service Organizations (USO). She is most fondly remembered for her loving open heart and selfless nature toward everyone around her.
Patty is survived by her husband John DeRose of Yorba Linda, CA, her brother, Tom Crum (Roxanne), of Syracuse, NY; and step-daughters, Margie DeRose and Michelle Hanson (Dan).
