Born on December 2, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska, Peggy Jane Mansur, affectionately known as P.J. to her family and friends, passed away peacefully at her home of 60 years in Brea, California, on March 29, 2025, at the age of 95. She was the daughter of Harold Hayes and Hazel Flanagan.
Peggy was a devoted wife to the late Wade Alexander Mansur, who passed away in 2013. Together, they shared many years of love and laughter and raised three hardworking and wonderful children: Nora Manase Kaio (Vaitu'u), Manase Mansur, and Phebe Mansur. Her legacy continues through her 8 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. P.J.'s great faith was a guiding principle in her life, and she prayed daily by name for each member of her family, a testament to her deep love and devotion to God.
P.J. loved Cats. She loved cats so much they were incorporated into every aspect of her life. She had a fondness for jewelry and never felt she was wearing enough rings, a charming reflection of her vibrant personality. A lifelong reader, Peggy amassed hundreds of books, an indication of her insatiable curiosity and love of stories. With an optimistic spirit, she often said, "Life is an adventure." Another favorite pastime was doing her family genealogy, proudly tracing her line back to John Alden on the Mayflower. Coming from a family of warriors, five of her ancestors fought in the American Revolution. Peggy was a true patriot and deeply loved her country.
P.J. was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a gifted painter and seamstress, creating beauty with her hands. With an eye for style, she considered herself a true fashionista. Her kitchen was also a place of warmth and delicious aromas, where she lovingly prepared meals for her family and friends. Anyone who knew P.J. knew her favorite flavor was chocolate, a simple joy that always brought a smile to her face. She also had a flair for the dramatic and enjoyed her time as an actress in local theater. In addition to her other community involvement, P.J. co-hosted the local television show "Talk of the Town" with her late husband, Wade.
Beyond her personal pursuits, P.J. was deeply committed to her community. She generously volunteered her time with the Brea Art Association, sharing her love of art with others. She was also a dedicated member of the Republican Women Federated.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Peggy served in various leadership positions throughout the years. One of the most important things P.J. learned was how to seek and act upon the guidance of the Holy Ghost in her life. “If the spirit tells you to sit down, then sit down. There’s a reason you don’t know yet. Do what the voice says! That’s why we have the spirit because our Heavenly Father loves us.” She also dedicated her time and talents as an elementary school teacher, shaping the minds of young children.
Above all, P.J. will be remembered for her kind, sweet, and loving nature. She touched the lives of so many with her warmth and generosity. She was our perfect angel Grandma P.J. Until we meet again. Give Grandpa Wade the biggest hug. We love you forever!!
A memorial service will be held on April 19th at 10:00 am in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to celebrate Peggy Jane Mansur’s remarkable life.
