

Fullerton — Phillip Joseph Gomez, 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his home in Fullerton, CA surrounded by family following a brief illness. He leaves his sons, Phillip Gomez and his wife Rebecca, Steven Gomez and significant other Christine Romero, David Gomez and his wife Elizabeth; his daughter, Linda Gomez; his sister, Hazel and three grandchildren. Phillip was preceded in death by his loving wife Dolores Gomez and his brother Andrew Gomez. Born in Los Alamitos, CA to parents Andrew and Mary Gomez, he was raised in Norwalk, CA alongside his younger siblings Andrew and Hazel. At a young age, Phil enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and brother. He later shared his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren. After graduating from Excelsior High School in 1959, and attending Cerritos College, Phil served in the United States Marine Corp. He later met his wife, Dolores Correa, at a dance hall and they were married July 17, 1965, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. After serving with the Marine Corp, Phil started his career with Anaheim Manufacturing where he worked for 25 years. He later became self-employed until his retirement. Phil had a passion for golf, coaching baseball and watching his grandchildren play sports. He played golf almost every weekend for close to 40 years and coached baseball at various levels, including semi-pro. Funeral services will be held on April 10 at McAulay & Wallace and church and burial services on April 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
