Ray Schilling, 89, died on 24 June 2020. He left behind his wife, Gayle Vogt-Schilling, with her four children and nearly 30 grand/great children. He also left four Schilling children and three grandchildren as well. A Special Forces/Green Beret, he led an incredible and stunning life as a paratrooper, a Ranger, and Scout. In addition to deployment in Vietnam, Panama, and Thailand, as a tennis champion, he was invited to play singles each morning with the Thailand commanding officer. Retired from the Army after 22 years of service, he taught ROTC in Long Beach high schools for another 20 years. At age 74, he was coaching tennis at Huntington Beach High School. His collective family love him so much and will miss his charm and quick wit. A military service will be 1215 PM Fri. July 3 at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside.
